My homage to the flag of Mexico.
For this one, I looked up some examples of traditional native Mexican art.
I have finished the sign for the Mexico exhibit at my kids’ school. Unfortunately it is too big for me to get a good picture, at least not with my phone. So you’re getting it in pieces.
Somehow Mo Willems seems to have influenced this one. Call it off-topic.

The kids were particularly taken with the painting of three black cats. Here’s a cat in oil pastel on orange construction paper.

Today’s art lesson with the kiddies included a study of the works of Maud Lewis. I thought this was appropriate for the children because Maud started her career as an artist as a child, creating and selling handmade Christmas cards. Her work is also very appealing to young children because her figures are simple and brightly coloured.
After perusing a collection of Maud Lewis’ work on google, plus viewing The Painted House on the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s website we created a number of Maud Lewis inspired paintings and drawings. I hope you enjoy them.
The Donate for Japan Flickr group is full of photos for the cause (like this adorable little one).
